Popis objektu

Stacionární telekomunikační družice. Postavila ji firma General Electric Co. (GE), St. Louis, MO (USA). Provozovatelem je GTE Spacenet Corp. (USA).

Družice určená pro vnitrostátní telefonní spojení, přenos dat a retranslaci televizních programů nese 16 převaděčů pracujících v pásmu Ku.

Plánovaný bod zavěšení je nad 125° z.d. Předpokládaná aktivní životnost je 13 let.

Předchozí družicí tohoto typu je GStar 3 (1988-081A).
