Δλ - Denní změna polohy vzhledem k zemskému povrchu (změna zeměpisné délky subsatelitního bodu) ve stupních za den (kladná východním směrem, záporná západním směrem). i - Sklon dráhy k rovníku ve stupních.

Popis objektu

Stacionární telekomunikační družice. Postavila ji firma GE Astro Space (nyní Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space Co.), East Windsor, NJ (USA). Provozovatelem je GE American Communications, Inc. (Americom, nyní SES Americom, součást SES Global), Princeton, NJ (USA).

Tříose stabilizovaná družice typu Series 5000 tvaru hranolu je vybavena panely slunečních baterií, dodávajícími na konci aktivního života minimálně 800 W elektircké energie. Nese 16 aktivních převaděčů pracujících v pásmu Ku (14/12 GHz). Slouží pro zajišťování vnitrostátních telekomunikačních služeb v rámci USA včetně Aljašky, Havajských ostrovů a Portorika. Pro navedení na stacionární dráhu je vybavena vlastním motorem na TPL.

Plánovaný bod zavěšení je nad 81° z.d. Předpokládaná aktivní životnost je 12 let.

Předchozí družicí této řady jiného typu je RCA Satcom 2R (1983-094A), další je Satcom K1 (1986-003B).

Průběh letu
