Popis objektu

Stacionární telekomunikační družice. Vyrobila ji firma Hughes Space and Communications Co. (HSC, nyní Boeing Satellite Systems), Seal Beach, CA (USA) v závodech v El Segundo, CA (USA). Provozovatelem je Telesat Canada, Gloucester, ON (Kanada).

Rotací stabilizovaná družice typu HS-333 je válcového tvaru o průměru 1.91 m a celkové délce 3.41 m. Stěny válce nesou sluneční baterie dodávající na počátku života 300 W, na konci 230 W. Nese 12 převaděčů pracujících v pásmu C (5.525-6.425/3.7-4.2 GHz) s celkovou kapacitou 7000 telefonních hovorů nabo 12 televizních programů. Je určena pro vnitrostátní provoz na území Kanady. Parabolická anténa o průměru 1.5 m je umístěna na stabilizované protirotující plošině, která nese též veškerou elektroniku. Pro korekce dráhy a úpravy osy rotace slouží 4 motorky na hydrazin. Pro navedení na stacionární dráhu je vybavena motorem United Technology center FW-5 na TPL o tahu 23-25 kN.

Pozemní řídicí středisko je u města Ottawa, ONT (Kanada).

Plánovaný bod zavěšení je nad 109° z.d. Předpokládaná aktivní životnost je 7 roků.

Předchozí družicí této řady jiného typu je Anik A3 alias Telesat 3 (1975-038A), další jiného typu je Anik D1 alias Telesat 5 (1982-082A).
