Retrospective Bibliography of Czech Literature of the Institute of Czech Literature of the CAS

Over the last 50 years, a systematic exception of periodicals published in the territory of the Czech Lands in Czech, German or Slovak languages from the beginning of the National Revival until the end of WWII was conducted for the purposes of the Retrospective Bibliography of Czech Literature. Anything pertaining to literature and related disciplines was excerpted: first and foremost, fictions, reviews of works of Czech and world literature and their adaptations for other kinds of art, literary science studies and essays, reports, comments, polemics, fairly frequently also journalism, political statements and manifestos, essays on related disciplines partly overlapping with literary science. A special data subset consists of excerpts of images (portraits or photographs of writers, illustrations accompanying their texts, etc.). Over time, a carefully structured card catalogue was created. It currently comprises some 700 drawers and some 1.75 million citation slips. Since 2009, work has been underway to make the entire card catalogue in the form of scans of the cards accessible online.
