If possible, please use Shibboleth access. The identity provider of the Library of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic is a member of the Czech Academic Identity Federation eduID.cz.
How to proceed when working with remote on-line sources
- You must enable cookies and JavaScript in your browser settings and not block pop-ups (these are usually all enabled by the standard browser settings in the vast majority of cases). See the guide to the browser you are using for more information.
- Choose the on-line source required in the table given above by clicking on the link in the second or third column to the right. If both types of access, i.e. Shibboleth and EZproxy, are available please use Shibboleth.
- After clicking on the given link, you will be directed to the identity provider, who will check your identity by requesting your user name and password. You will receive authentication details when registering your reader’s account (the service is currently designed for registered library readers only).
- If the authentication process is successful, you will automatically be redirected to the required on-line source, and you can begin work.
- After you have finished work with an on-line source, we strongly recommend you erase your browsing history and cookies and close all browser windows. This is particularly important if you are accessing an on-line source from a public area of any kind (a computer study at a library or school, an Internet café, etc.)!
Possible problems
- The cookie lifespan may expire following a long period of inactivity. After accessing the on-line source again, you will automatically be redirected to the identity provider, where you will have to enter your authentication details again.
- We should draw your attention to a possible problem that may occur when using EZproxy access to an on-line source if the on-line source provides a link to protected content in the form of a link such as a Flash plug-in or another form which EZproxy is not capable of intercepting and transcribing. For this reason, we recommend using Shibboleth access with sources that support it.
- Should you have any problems with authentication, first try erasing the cookies in your browser. See the guide to the browser you are using for more information.
